***NOT TO TAS, WA*** Heirloom from Eastern Europe. Perennial plant (annual in cooler areas) growing to 1.5m high, produced for its edible, creamy white roots. Will die down over winter in cooler areas to shoot again in spring. Will tolerate damp soil conditions. Roots may be boiled or baked, & used in meat & vegetable dishes as well as sauces & vinegars adding a rich spiciness. Young leaves (commonly known as 'horseradish greens', may be harvested & added to salad mixes, or cooked like spinach.
