***NOT TO TAS, WA***  (Colocasia esculenta)  Heirloom.  Traditionally grown as a root vegetable.  Attractive plant to 1.5m high with large, light green, heart shaped leaves and fleshy stems.  Produces edible bulbs which can be boiled, mashed or baked.  May also be thinly sliced and fried to make taro chips.  Requires a long growing season.  May be grown in full sun or part shade.  May be planted at any time of the year in frost free areas or spring in cooler climates.
